Our client over in Louisburg called us out on a pair of 4-layer trim doors, made to stress out standard openers. Our immediate thoughts were that these doors needed light commercial openers. The doors themselves were in good shape. The problem was the openers.
When the house was built, the builder dropped in Genie units from the box store. The big door's opener gave out at the 4-year mark.
We swapped both out for LiftMaster 87802s. These are light commercial drawbar openers, they have an I-rail construction made of thick steel to handle the weight of light commercial doors and the motor/gearing to do it. The client also asked for LiftMaster 841LM deadbolt locks built into the system, which automatically throw a bolt when the door's closed. Extra layer of security on top of the opener.
Pulled the old Genies, hauled them off, installed the new LiftMasters and the deadbolts, dialed everything in, and tested. Doors run quieter now and the client's set for the next 15-plus years instead of the next 4.
